Over 2000 delegates from 85 countries from all sectors including education, government, and non-governmental organizations all around the world are scheduled to attend the bi-annual three-day Women As Global Leaders Conference organized by Zayed University, and scheduled to be held in Dubai from March 10 to 12.
The conference will take place under the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation, under the theme: "Learning Leadership".
HE Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of Zayed University, will open the conference which aims to build bridges that unite female students from around the world as participants meet with internationally renowned women leaders, share ideas, and engage in debate on 'Learning Leadership'.
Sheikh Nahayan stressed the importance of the conference as it focuses on women's emerging and current leadership roles across the globe as well as the practice of educating students for and about leadership, with each other and with some of the most prominent women leaders in the world today, in addition to creating a connection between the emerging generation of women leaders.
He also acknowledged the support that Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Sheikha Fatima is also Chairperson of General Women?s Union and President of Arab Women Organization, has shown for such an event as it reflects her deep support of the issue of women empowerment.
He added that the success this bi-annual conference has achieved in its past years and the effort that Zayed University?s students have contributed to the Women As Global Leaders Conference highlight the high academic standards Zayed University has achieved over the years.
This came in a speech distributed by Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim Vice president of Zayed University at the beginning of the press conference held by the University on Sunday to announce the Women As Global Leaders Conference.
Dr. Al Jassim emphasized the importance of the upcoming conference in determining ways of preparing young women as future global leaders, as it includes presentations by prominent world leaders and personalities sharing ideas on the topic of leadership and interacting with submitted papers, presentations, simulations and workshops.
During the gathering, he said, key women figures will send a message to the attending students and their fellow women on how to equip themselves with knowledge and determination to be more prominent in positions of leadership and have their own vision and commitment which will make a difference.
He added that the conference aims to create educational and cultural and social bridges between students of Zayed University and others in different universities all over the world. (WAM)
